Expected to feature over 680 hp and a tri-motor setup: Mercedes-Benz’s most accessible all-electric AMG SUV is coming.
We recently obtained spy shots of the all-new all-electric AMG GLA. Currently undergoing road testing with significantly reduced camouflage, the vehicle is expected to feature the tri-motor powertrain from the AMG CLA 45, potentially delivering a maximum output of 500 kW (680 hp).
Regarding its appearance, most of the camouflage has been removed, leaving only small patches of masking tape. The front end features a more aggressive lower bumper and a unique AMG-specific grille, distinguishing it from the standard Mercedes-Benz GLA equipped with the optional AMG Line package. At the rear, the vehicle sports the brand’s latest star-motif taillights and a roof spoiler; it will likely also be fitted with a diffuser similar to that of the new AMG CLA 45. Overall, the vehicle retains the distinctive silhouette of the GLA.
While official powertrain specifications have not yet been released, the recently unveiled electric AMG CLA 45 offers a reference point. That model utilizes three axial-flux motors producing a combined 500 kW (680 hp) and 1,759 Nm of peak torque. It is powered by a 94 kWh battery and built on an 800V high-voltage architecture, offering a WLTP range of 670 km for the four-door coupe and 640 km for the Shooting Brake; the AMG GLA 45 is highly likely to adopt this same battery configuration. The GLA 45 is also expected to feature the AMG Force S+ mode found in the CLA 45, a system that simulates engine sound and gear-shifting sensations—complete with seat vibration—to enhance the sense of realism.
